Star Eyes (or more precisely Star Pupil(s); 星の瞳 - Hoshi no Hitomi) is a concept in Luminous Arc 3.
What the Star Eyes really are is one of the main mysteries of the game, which is gradually revealed in subsequent chapters.
Searching for the truth[]
In the beginning we learn that the reason why Felicia raids the human realm (Eye Hunts) is taking away people's Eyes and searching for the Star Eyes in particular (as revealed by Reinhart during the raid at the Royal Ball).
In Chapter 10 after Aulmorde loses the Star Key to Magus, she hints that they should search for the Star Eyes, if they want to know the answers.
In Chapter 11, Sara reminds herself that in a certain book there is a passage saying: "To further enhance the magic of the Witch's Eye, purify your eyes in the Holy Witch Spring, the light of life in the frozen valley". Somehow she comes up with an idea that Witch's Eye might point at Star Eyes. To test that, during the Summer Camp, Magus soak the Egg Mushroom in the Holy Witch Spring and it changes its shape into lapistier-like.
Substitutes[]
Eventually, Magus were able to find and recreate the method in which the Holy Witch Siville created a substitute for the Star Eyes for the previous Judgement of Time. That subsitute was filled with Aura Lux and named as Aura Lapis.
Nefiria has created a similar substitute named Tenness Lapis, but filled with Tenness Lux.
The truth[]
In reality, Star Eyes are the true nature of Twin Lapis. They're the essence of the God's Eyes born every thousand years into the world from the God's tears, taking a form of a human that shall grow until it is the time for them to awaken their true nature through Smirsaff's or Yorg's power. Once they've released all of their power, the Star Eyes shall lose their humanity (starting with their various senses, and eventually their memories) and their body is transformed into those of Lapistier, ending with them offering themselves to Miria during the Judgement of Time as her eyes that shall allow her to illuminate the world for the next thousand years.
- If Miria is given the Aura Lux Star Eyes during the Judgement of Time, then it's the Time of the Sun and the world will be illuminated with the Light of Life. Humanity is allowed to live and prosper for another thousand years until the next Time of the Moon.
- If Miria is given the Eye of Tenness Lux Star Eyes during the Judgement of Time, then it's the Time of the Moon and the world will be illuminated with the Light of Death. Humanity shall perish for a thousand years until the next Time of the Sun.
According to the God, the Star Eyes have a hidden secondary role as his "backup" in case that his main body is destroyed. The Star Eyes who kill him shall become the new God in his place due to them being essentially his "alter-ego". This process never occurs, however, as Levi has managed to gain a soul of his own through his seventeen years of his life bonding with his friends, ultimately making him his own existence that's no longer bound to the God.
Only two Stars Eyes are known in Luminous Arc 3:
- Levi - Aura Lux Star Eyes
- Anogia - Tenness Lux Star Eyes who fell in love with Miria and abandoned his role in order to give her her eyes while still be with her forever as himself.
