Valerie

Valerie is an unplayable character introduced in the Prologue of the Luminous Arc 3. She appears right after Lily's death during the Felicia attack on the Shelterhouse.

Valerie is a teacher/instructor at the Urgard Academy and a commanding officer of the Magi Knight special force - Magus. Valerie was also a caretaker of the Shelterhouse. We get to know that she recruited Glen to Urgard before the game takes place and three months after the Felicia's attack on the Shelterhouse she recruits Levi to Urgard as well.

Valerie seems to care greatly for Levi and has high hopes in him. She cares about his behaviour and manners by often reminding him to use proper language (Japanese honorifics), as well as education (for example by forcing bookworm Sara to give Levi supplementary lessons).

Valerie spends mornings and evenings at the Instructor Room.

Valerie is the wielder of the Dark Lapis, which is located between her breasts after the Transformation into her Telos form.

Plot[]

Thousand years ago, Valerie was once an Angel Priestess. However, unlike Elle who can hear Aura Lux Miria's voice, Valerie, affected by the Light of Death, heard the voice of Tenness Lux Miria. She was persecuted as a Siren of Death. The only one who lend their hand to help her was Anogia. He probably thought of her as useful tool in achieving his goals, because she could hear Miria's voice. That's why Valerie loves Anogia with unconditional, yet unrequited love. For her, Anogia is equal to god, and even though he was just using her, she wouldn't mind, as long as she could be with him.
After being cornered, Valerie eventually abandoned humans for Nefiria and became Telos. In order for Time of the Moon to prevail, Valerie disguised herself as a human and worked at Urgard Academy as an instructor.

Valerie keeps encouraging Magus to use the fake "Star Eyes" (which are in fact Black Eyes) in battles against Felicia. Her goal is to contaminate Magus with the Light of Death. In the process, she takes control over Glen, whose Violet Lapis is the closest to Nefiria's lapises.

In Chapter 21, before the battle at the Valley of the Kings, Valerie reveals that she was the one who killed Ashley's brother and used his Lapis as a base for Tenness Lapis.

In Chapter 23, Valerie protects Anogia from a fatal blow by Levi. Before she dies, we are introduced to her backstory from a 1000 years ago by Aulmorde.
Magus meet and fight Valerie's "wraith" one last time, at the Demon Realm in Chapter 25. Depending on the route, if Anogia is in the party, he will finish Valerie off with his own hands, as he feels responsible for "driving her to this point". If Anogia wasn't recruited, Magus will arrive at the scene where Anogia was given a lethal wound by Valerie and he dies soon after the fight between Magus and Valerie.

Valerie's Room[]

Valerie's Room is located on the second floor of Urgard Dormitory.
Valerie's Room is branded with a rapier sign right from the beginning of the game in Chapter 1, but you can't enter inside until Valerie's betrayal in Chapter 15.
Main color of Valerie's room is brown and there's no particular theme to it. The object you can interact with is Valerie's diary left on her desk. It has Anogia's name written on every page.

Valerie has very high Atk stat and Tec, meaning that her physical attack will never miss. Her HP is average and her other stats are somewhat below average, but be careful because she is very powerful. Her FD Lunar Strike has 1.8 multiplier and ranged, so it's very dangerous and so are her skills.

First Battle[]

While it's true that Valerie's HP isn't very high and her magic is low, she can and will hit very hard with her "Triple Attack" skill which allows her to easily kill even Levi in one hit. Luckily, she can only use it once. Best way to deal with her is to use magical attacks like Inaluna's "Bright Arrow" or "Photon Axis", since her element is dark and she has low resistance to magic attacks.

Second Battle[]

In this battle you must not only take care of Nefiria's attacks, but also protect Inaluna. Heine can be very useful by increasing her defense. Use Sarah or Elle to heal. This time, Valerie is more dangerous than before and she can 1-hit K.O. Inaluna with her Flash Drive Lunar Strike, if you don't protect her well.

Third Battle[]

In this battle you face Valerie and Glen. Other than that, Levi is forced to fight, and if he's defeated you lose, so be really careful when attempting to kill either Glen or Valerie. It is advisable to bring at least 2 healers and split into two groups of three people to attack from both sides. Aulmorde and Yuu are best used in this stage as they have huge magic power, spell AOE and also mobility in Aulmorde's case. If both of them are already around level 50 in this chapter, they can basically one hit almost any Nefiria demons they face. Also Glen and Valerie are vulnerable to magic attacks, since they are physical-based enemies. Glen and Valerie remain the same as always, so by now you should know their weaknesses.

(Important): Before the fight you get to choose two options. Your choice will affect the storyline. If you choose the first option, at the end of the fight Glen dies and can't join the party. And if you choose the second option, at end of battle Glen will rejoin the party.

Final Battle[]

She is now backed up with almost endless supply of Nefiria reinforcements. That's why you should quickly defeat her (though she will come toward you anyway). Her "Dark Scream" isn't very dangerous, but the number of monsters is.
